Inclusive Talent Strategy for London launched

HE GLA and London Councils have launched their Inclusive Talent Strategy which sets out how the London Growth Plan will be implemented. The strategy marks a major shift by the GLA – putting employers in the driving seat. Its overarching aim is to better to equip Londoners with the skills required for quality jobs in key growth sectors including Construction, Creative Industries and Life Sciences.

At the launch on 23rd October, the GLA made several announcements including:

  • A new funding opportunity to support skills development and job creation.
  • The establishment of employer-led Sector Talent Boards and pan London Sector Hubs.
  • The launch of a ‘Get London Working Plan’.

Sector Talent Boards

Businesses with strong sector networks can apply for up to £360,000 to set up a Sector Talent Board and a pan London Sector Hub in the Construction & Built Environment, Creative Industries, or Life Sciences. These employer-led boards will shape training and career pathways aligned with market needs. Organisations can apply individually or as part of a consortium. Download the prospectus here. London Talent Pathways – new funding opportunity

The GLA has launched a new fund, London Talent Pathways to shape vocational training and strengthen partnerships between employers and training providers in priority sectors. Market warming webinars are scheduled for 3rd & 5th of November. Full details here. Applications close on 8th December.

Get London Working Plan

THE GLA has also launched a Get London Working Plan as part of the wider national Get Britain Working white paper. Developed in partnership with the NHS, jobcentres and London Councils, the plan outlines how Londoners can assess support to return to the labour market. Download the plan here.
