Women into Construction Brent Cross Town Programme: Applications now open!
9 May 2024Women into Construction are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Women into Construction Brent Cross Town Programme, in collaboration with 12 major construction and engineering employers who are working in the Brent, Barnet and Camden Region.
The programme aims to give candidates an insight into construction careers, an understanding of the type of jobs available and the confidence and skills to apply for them.
We are looking for enthusiastic women, aged 19+, resident in Brent, Barnet or Camden, unemployed or economically inactive who are interested find out more about construction. Candidates should be able to commit to the 5-week full time training programme – support for travel and childcare whilst on programme will be provided by WIC.
The programme includes:
- Monday 17 June until Friday 5 July: Construction related training, delivered by The Skills Centre Edgware at 158 Station Rd, Edgware, HA8 7AW
- Introduction to construction Careers, including meet the employer sessions
- Practical taster sessions in construction skills
- Qualification in Level 1 Health and Safety and CSCS card
- Building a winning CV and interview skills for construction
- Monday 8 July until Friday 19 July: Work placements at employer sites in and around The Brent Cross Town Development, Brent, Barnet and Camden. Roles include:
- Site Management, Document Control & Administration, Mechanical & Electrical, Landscaping & Traffic Marshall.
- 1-2-1 support, provided by WiC, including travel and childcare expenses whilst on placement
- Support to apply for employment opportunities on offer with participating employers and other WiC members
