HRUC

At Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC) the green skills agenda is embedded into our curriculum with units across several of our courses, particularly within building services, construction, engineering, sustainability, and food-to-fork programmes. The work extends through to our higher-level technical qualifications which are part of our West London Institute of Technology provision.

Within construction and engineering courses at Richmond Campus there has been an investment in ground-source heat pumps, retrofit and PV panels to continue providing the skills and knowledge our students need to meet employer needs.

There are also discrete units on many courses and we are developing a course linked to low-carbon transport. This aligns with our existing e-vehicle and hybrid vehicle courses with facilities that include a CarTrain, automotive technology products through Lucas Nuelle, and an electric mini, providing students with the opportunity to extend their practical skills along with underpinning theory and knowledge. We are delivering workshops to our GCSE students to increase awareness of green skills and green jobs along with employability skills needed for the future.

Brunel University London

Brunel University London is both a global and a civic institution. It serves the needs of national and international partners through its research and educational strengths, while also serving the needs of its neighbours in the West London community. Brunel’s basic aim is to bring inclusive, sustainable benefits to society through excellence in education, research and the sharing of knowledge. To achieve elements of that aim, Brunel offers a wide range of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes which are designed not only to engage learners with theories of practice, but to put learning into practice, particularly where that practice engages with industry partners and the tangible challenges those partners face. Throughout their education, Brunel students are encouraged to reflect upon and appreciate the social, ecological and economic dimensions of their study, practical work and decision making, so that graduates are mindful of their responsibility to themselves and their communities but are also imbued with critical hope for the future.

Buckinghamshire New University

Graduates with the relevant technical prowess to match the demands of the wider economy, including digital, management, and people skills are key to the transition towards net zero and a successful ‘green economy’.

The government’s Ten Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution sets out a broad vision for the priority sector transitions needed to achieve net-zero emissions. We take great pride in educating the future workforce about the path to net-zero as part of BNU’s mission to provide modern and relevant skills-based courses that empower our graduates to impact positively on the wider world.

Three industries have the most immediate and pressing targets to decarbonise the economy: home efficiency; automotive and electric vehicles; and clean power. BNU courses are designed to meet industry needs and ensure that our graduates’ skills make them work-ready to hit the ground running in supporting businesses with meeting the government’s decarbonisation targets. Multidisciplinary courses offered at BNU provide students with a sound understanding of project management, digital proficiency, design and environment sustainability, and supply chain management, all of which equip our graduates to play a successful role on the pathway to a greener economy.

About Us

We are a large London college with over 13,000 students, delivering hundreds of courses. The diverse environment offers an excellent opportunity to meet a broader range of people. A larger college brings with it bigger and better facilities with state-of-the-art campuses.

We are a nationally recognised apprenticeship provider and deliver a high standard of training. Our fantastic achievement rates come from working positively with apprentices and employers to ensure we offer the best service.

Liaison with employers is vital to our success. We continually analyse the job market, filling skills gaps with appropriate courses so our students are safe in the knowledge that they’ll be job-ready.

Employability is at the core of everything we do; work placements and industry experience is integral to most courses and it’s this experience that gives our students the competitive edge when looking for a job or securing a place at university.

The future economy needs a vocational and technically skilled workforce. At Barnet and Southgate College, we expand horizons and help align skills with the jobs that are out there in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
